Simplified Waste

To help you manage your waste recycling:
Sorting bags are available: yellow for packaging, green for glass. Corresponding bins are located at the collection point.
A single, fully equipped collection point is located across from the front desk. A sorting table, signage, a sink, and sorting staff are on hand to welcome you and guide you. There is also a black trash can for waste that unfortunately cannot be recycled: (diapers, sponges, used tissues, etc.)
For composting, regardless of your type of accommodation, a solution is provided. Reusable buckets or compostable bags allow you to transport your food scraps to the brown organic waste bins at the collection point.

Aim for

A little-known environmental issue among the general public, cigarette butts are one of the most common types of litter found along the coast. We are therefore particularly committed to combating this pollution.
In partnership with the Corsican company E-Collect, you’ll find our 7 recycling ashtrays located throughout the campground: at the main beach access points, at the entrance to the reception area and the supermarket, on the entertainment plaza, and near the pool.

Every month, these cigarette butts are collected and converted into energy.

Low-impact

• Installation of solar thermal panels on the roof, which alone produce more than half of the domestic hot water for the main building.
• Flow-restricted faucets to prevent water waste.
• Graywater from the showers is collected and, after filtration and treatment, used to flush the toilets.

A thorough clean!

• Use of products certified by Écolabel or Ecocert for cleaning common areas and bungalows.
• Use of washable and reusable cleaning supplies that meet health standards (sponges, dishcloths).
• Installation of dispensers for cleaning products to ensure only the necessary amounts are used.

Harness the power

Our energy transition efforts continue with the development of solar photovoltaic systems. We have installed our first solar array, with a capacity of 100 kWp, on the roof of the supermarket. This system allows us to generate a portion of the electricity needed to operate the campground using renewable energy.
A second solar array is currently being installed to further this initiative.

Preserving

At San Damiano Campground, we also take care of our ecosystem.
• Reintroduction of native plants to maintain biodiversity.
• Monitoring the spread of witch’s claws, an invasive species that, in moderate quantities, supports the dunes and prevents soil erosion.
• Optimizing existing buildings to limit new construction.
• Green parking spaces to preserve soil permeability.

Getting Around

As the leading source of greenhouse gas emissions in the tourism sector, transportation is, of course, essential for reaching Corsica. However, we strive to encourage more sustainable modes of transportation during your stay.
• An electric shuttle is available to take you to Bastia at a very reasonable rate.
• Two fast-charging stations for electric vehicles are available at the campground entrance.
• We have also developed a car rental service exclusively for our guests. Five vehicles are available for daily rental, three of which are hybrid-powered.

Reducing CO2

Although required only for companies with more than 500 employees, San Damiano Campground has voluntarily decided to have its carbon footprint assessed. This comprehensive tool helps us better understand the sources of our CO₂ emissions and make the best decisions to reduce our environmental impact.
Now that we’re aware of the sources of our emissions, we’re doing everything we can to offer you a more eco-friendly vacation.

Committing to

In partnership with the tourism office, local officials, and lodging professionals, we have drafted a charter consisting of 68 articles. San Damiano Campground is committed to complying with at least 70% of the articles, with biannual monitoring by the tourism office.
